In a country consistent plagued with the burden of being homophobic in this increasingly liberal West, it is very interesting and somewhat strange when a Jamaican public figure come out clean and don’t play hypocrite (lord knows there a so many of them) and just says it. You know what I’m gay.
I sincerely doubt there will be any reprocussions after Diana Kings’ admitting her real sexual orientation besides from a few dropped jaws. And a few interviews where she explains why she held the truth secret so long.
In JA the problem really isn’t with the lesbians but with the gay men or ‘battyboys’. Many Jamaicans say by not supporting the gay lifestyle they’re being good citizen and upholding the ‘Buggery Law”; which should be noted was put in place and rigorously exercised by the British crown which ruled Jamaica.
I sincerely hope the best for Diana King and I wish her eternal blessings. Mi love yuh gyal!
