Grammys 2013 and Low Expectations

Is it me or is there absolutely no hype, excitement or anticipation surrounding the 2013 Grammys? I mean seriously, think about it. For the most part the music was dull, sales were dry and there is no favorite.

Over the years I’ve realized that people love to have a clear winner before the competition even begins. Take for instance Usain Bolt. The 100m was the most watched sport at the 2012 London Olympics. Even though most people could predict a bolt of Bolt across the field they still watched expectantly with sparkles in their eyes.

Just look at the 2012 Grammys. Everything was all about Adele; the central piece, the “it girl” for the event. People loved it.

Fast forward 2013 Grammys there is no front runner and the entire idea of a big show just comes across as bland and boring and I haven’t even seen the show. Nor do I know what they have in store. O well lets hope for the best here are my predictions.

Album of the Year:

Lionel Richie – Tuskegee (winner)

Drake – Take Care

Gotye – Making Mirrors

Jack White – Blunderbuss

Frank Ocean – Channel Orange

I see Tuskegee winning because its a composition of classics infused with some of the biggest acts music has ever seen. The vintage meets contemporary; its bound to score loads of votes.

Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe

Gotye (featuring Kimbra) – Somebody That I Used to Know

Katy Perry – Wide Awake

Fun (featuring Janelle Monáe) – We Are Young

Taylor Swift – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
